ED Summons Hasan Mushrif: The ED has sent summons to former Maharashtra minister and senior NCP leader Hasan Mushrif on Saturday (March 11). Mushrif has been asked to appear on Monday for questioning in the Sugar Mill corruption case. The ED also raided the residence of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Mushrif in Kolhapur on Saturday in connection with the money laundering case.
ED raid at Mushrif’s residence
This was the third raid by ED officials at Mushrif’s residence in the last two months. Hasan Mushrif’s wife Saira Mushrif said in connection with the raids by ED officials, why are they searching our house again. My husband works for the people, then why is the government doing this. Mushrif, an MLA from Kolhapur’s Kagal assembly constituency, has served as the rural development minister in the MVA government.
NCP leaders criticized the raid
He is one of the senior party leaders from western Maharashtra and a close confidante and loyalist of NCP chief Sharad Pawar. His constituency is Kagal, from where he has been elected five times since 1999. Reacting to the raids, NCP leader and state president Jayant Patil said the raid was planned to target the leader of the opposition party.
He said that the matter is in the Bombay High Court and the court has given relief to Mushrif. Even after that, the ED is conducting raids, which is unethical. ED officials told a local court that the agency registered a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) on the basis of a complaint filed by the Registrar of Companies, Pune. Action was initiated after doing.
