March Weather Pattern: Scorching heat had to be faced from the beginning of the month of March, although later the weather took a turn. The first two weeks of the month were the hottest. According to the information received from the department, March could be among the top-10 coldest months in the last 73 years. According to the information received from the gridded dataset of the Meteorological Department, the average maximum temperature in India till March 29 is 30.35 degree Celsius.

According to the department, from the year 1981 to 2010, the maximum temperature is 0.96 degree less, it is considered normal from IMD. Apart from this, the department said that this is the 12th coldest month since 1951, for which IMD has gridded the data. At the same time, the department said that February was the 13th hottest month since 1951. At the beginning of the month of March, the department expected more heat in March. According to the information received from the department, due to western disturbance, cyclonic circulation in Rajasthan, such changes have occurred in the weather. 
 
Grid dataset for 10 states  Use 
On February 28, the IMD had said in its forecast for March to May that  March is expected to be warmer than normal in most parts. According to the information, the first two weeks of March were 1.1 and 1 degree warmer than normal. However, after March 16, a drop in temperature was recorded. IMD has used the gridded dataset for 10 states out of 30 states and union territories. 

According to the information, out of these 10 states, there are only six states which are more than 0.5 degree warmer than normal. These states are Assam, Punjab, Tripura, Kerala, Manipur and Mizoram. Whereas in Sikkim, 4.99 degrees, 2.61 degrees in Jammu and Kashmir, 1.65 degrees in Meghalaya, 1.61 degrees in Telangana and 1.47 degrees in Maharashtra, the temperature fell below normal. The maximum average so far in Delhi is 0.31 degrees below normal. The first two weeks of March in Delhi were 2.1 and 1.9 degrees warmer than the normal   Since then the temperature was 2.8 and 2.5 degrees below normal.
