Tree Falls On Temple Shed: Akola district of Maharashtra had a big accident on Sunday evening. Seven people were killed while at least 30 others were injured when a huge neem tree fell on the tin shed of a temple due to heavy rains and strong winds.
Maharashtra’s Akola late Sunday evening There was heavy rain with strong winds in the district. Meanwhile, an old neem tree uprooted and fell on top of a tin shed at Babuji Maharaj’s Mandir Sansthan in Paras village of Balapur tehsil of Akola district. At that time many people had taken shelter under the shed due to rain. As soon as the information was received, the local villagers rushed to the spot and started evacuating the trapped people.
The injured were sent to the hospital
The villagers also informed the administration. After which the police team and ambulance reached the spot and helped in the rescue work. JCB machines were deployed to lift the fallen trees and fallen sheds. Akola Collector Neema Arora told that 7 people have died due to falling of trees while 30-40 people have been injured. The injured have been admitted to the hospital.
The collector said that around 40 people were present under the shed at the time of the accident. 36 people were admitted to the hospital, while 4 people had died before reaching the hospital. Later the death toll increased to 7. One person is seriously injured.
Deputy CM expressed grief
Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis expressed grief over the accident and paid tribute to the dead . He tweeted saying, “It is sad to inform that during a religious function at Paras in Akola district, some devotees died when a tree fell on the tin shed.
He further wrote, Collector and Superintendent of Police immediately. Visiting the spot, coordinating to ensure timely treatment of the injured. We are in constant touch with them.
