Karnataka Assembly Election 2023: Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah is preparing to contest from Varuna seat in next month’s assembly elections. In the first list of Congress, Siddaramaiah has been made the candidate from this seat. This is the seat of his son Yatindra Siddaramaiah, who is currently the MLA from here. The Congress leader from Karnataka has already announced that this is his last election and after that he will not participate in electoral politics. In such a situation, there is a special reason for his contesting from Varuna seat.
Why Siddaramaiah will fight with Varuna
Mysore’s Varuna seat holds a special place for Siddaramaiah. It was from here that he started his electoral politics. Now he wants to play his last innings of politics at his home ground.
Siddaramaiah usually contests from two seats. In the last assembly elections also, he contested from two seats. He was preparing the ground in Kolar for many months. In a letter to the Karnataka Congress in February, he had mentioned three assembly seats, Badami, Varuna and Kolar, from where he could contest.
Badami and Kolar are not included in the first list of Congress. Sources say that there is little chance of his ticket from Kolar as local reports suggest that it will be difficult for him to win the election from there.
Speculation of a contest with Yeddyurappa’s son
Assembly elections have been announced in Karnataka. Votes will be cast in a single phase on May 10 in the state. The election results will come three days later on May 13.
