Vidhan Sabha Elections are to be held.
According to sources, the first list of candidates may be released on March 18. Earlier, the top Congress leaders held a meeting in Vijayapura of the state regarding the distribution of tickets in the Karnataka elections.
Announcement of the first names of Rahul’s rally – According to information, the party may announce the names of around 120 candidates before Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Karnataka. Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to reach Karnataka on March 20. He will participate in the party’s mega rally in Belagavi in the state.
In Karnataka, state Congress President DK Shivakumar and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will also attend the Central Election Committee meeting. Earlier, Congress General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala, Party Election Ticket Scrutiny Committee Chairman Mohan Prakash, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President DK Shivakumar and former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly Siddaramaiah on March 9. Attended the meeting held at Vijayapura.
DK Shivakumar’s brothers may contest the election- The name of DK Shivakumar’s brother DK Suresh may also be included in the list of Congress candidates. DK Suresh is currently the only Congress MP in the state. There is talk of him contesting from the Ramanagara assembly seat against JDS leader Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil Kumaraswamy. State President DK Shivakumar himself gave this information.
DK Sivakumar had said on his brother’s election, "I can’t deny it, but yes, there is a proposal. I have yet to discuss it with everyone. My message is that they should contest the election. The local leaders are putting pressure on me and the party is also saying that Suresh should contest the elections. I have not yet spoken to Suresh or the party workers about it. It’s a big decision, but it hasn’t happened yet."
