LeT Terrorist Arrested In Jammu Kashmir Sopore: Security forces arrested an active terrorist of terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Sopore area of Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. Arms and ammunition have been recovered from him. According to Sopore police, a joint search operation was launched by Sopore police and army based on specific inputs regarding the presence of terrorists in Dangarpura area.
Officials told that As the cordon was being laid, a suspect tried to break the cordon by taking advantage of the narrow streets in the congested area. The troops, while assessing the situation, exercised utmost restraint and did not open fire on the suspect and, showing great presence of mind, managed to capture the terrorist alive.
All this was recovered from the accused
The arrested person has been identified as Owais Ahmad Mir, a resident of War Mohalla Gund Barat. During the search, incriminating material, arms and ammunition including one 9 mm pistol, 8 rounds of 9 mm caliber, one pistol magazine and one Chinese grenade were recovered from his possession.
The accused was planning a target killing – Jammu and Kashmir Police
Jammu and Kashmir Police say that the newly recruited terrorist was assigned the task of carrying out attacks on the security forces. During interrogation, according to the police, the accused has also confirmed that he was planning to carry out target killings in the area, but the timely action by the forces has not only deterred Pakistanis bent on disturbing peace in the Valley. The nefarious designs of the terrorist handlers were foiled, but a major tragedy was also averted.
