India-Australia Relations: Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was given a guard of honor by the Indian Navy at INS Vikrant on Thursday (March 9). He was also seated in the cockpit of INS Vikrant.
Albanese then said that I am honored to be here today on the newly commissioned, Indian designed and built in India INS Vikrant at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. My visit reflects my Government’s commitment to placing India at the heart of Australia’s vision of the Indo-Pacific and beyond. He further said that for Australia, India is a top tier security partner. The Indian Ocean is central to the security and prosperity of both countries.
Modi and Albanese welcome
During this, Modi and Albanese handed over Test caps to the captains of their respective country’s cricket team, Rohit Sharma and Steve Smith respectively. Thousands of cricket lovers, who reached the world’s largest cricket stadium to watch the Test match, welcomed Modi and Albanese on golf carts with applause. Modi and Albanese met the players of both the teams and stood with the players when the national anthems of India and Australia were played.

Both Prime Ministers Narendra Modi Stadium’s ‘Hall of Fame Museum’ also visited. Albanese reached Ahmedabad on Wednesday morning. He had participated in some programs organized in the city. Whereas, Modi reached Ahmedabad late on Wednesday.
