Himachal Election: Enthusiasm for assembly polls in Himachal Pradesh, more than 70 percent voting, results on December 8

Himachal Election: Voting for all 68 assembly seats was held in Himachal Pradesh today (Saturday). Although the main fight in the state is between BJP and Congress, this time Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is also in the fray. According to Election Commission data, 70.94 percent voter turnout was recorded for the assembly elections. 76.69 percent voting was highest in Una. The lowest voter turnout was 67.41 percent in Kulu. A record 75.57 percent voter turnout was recorded in the 2017 elections. This year the voter turnout is five percent less than the last election. Now the fate of hundreds of candidates is sealed in the voting machine. Counting of votes will be held on December 8.

How much voting took place in which district?
In Himachal Pradesh, the total voting for the assembly elections was 70.94 percent. Una district saw the highest voter turnout of 76.69 percent. 73.21 percent voting in Solan, 67.54 percent in Lahaul Spiti. 69.72% in Bilaspur, 70.74% in Chamba, 67.07% in Hamirpur, 71.27% in Kangra, 62% in Kinnaur, 70.50% in Kullu, 68.21% in Shimla and 75.12% in Solan and 70.76% in Mandi district. 

The fate of 412 candidates from 68 constituencies including Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur, former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh’s son Vikramaditya Singh and former BJP chief Satpal Singh Satti has been sealed in the voting machines. The result of this election will be announced on December 8. 

What did the Chief Minister say?
After voting, Chief Minister Jairam Thakur said in a tweet, ‘There was great enthusiasm among the voters of all classes in the voting held across the state today. This is a matter of great joy. Thank you to all the voters who voted. Thanks to all of you for the peaceful election campaign and polling.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also urged people to vote for the better future of their children and Himachal. In Himachal Pradesh, you have contested in  67 out of 68 seats. 

Former Congress President MP Rahul Gandhi tweeted that, "Himachal will vote for OPS (Old Pension Scheme), Himachal will vote for employment, Himachal will vote for ‘Har Ghar Lakshmi’."  Vote in large numbers and make your significant contribution for the progress and prosperous future of Himachal, tweeted Rahul Gandhi.
