Hemant Soren : Chief Minister of Jharkhand Assembly Jharkhand Out of 81 members of the Legislative Assembly, 48 votes were cast in favor of Hemant Soren. BJP walked out of the House during the vote of confidence.
Confidence motion was passed in Vidhan Sabha by voice vote. Hemant Soren got 48 votes. So, not a single vote was cast against it. The Assembly Speaker then announced that the government had won the vote of confidence. Thereafter the proceedings of the Legislative Assembly were adjourned indefinitely.
Speaking from BJP, Neelkanth Munda said that the citizens of Jharkhand are scared. Neither the opposition nor the court or the governor asked for a vote of confidence. However, he questioned why the government was afraid. Bringing a trust vote in such a manner means that the government does not have faith in its own MLAs.
During the trust vote speech, some MLAs protested in the House. The issue of demolition of the house of Mahadalit community in Palamu and the murder of Ankita in Dumka was raised in the House.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren is currently mired in controversy. He is accused of having given the lease of a mine in his own name when he was the chief minister. The Central Election Commission has recommended to the Governor to cancel Soren’s MLA. However, the Governor has not officially announced any decision on this. Soren, along with his Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Congress MLAs, reached Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur to avoid a crisis with the government.
