Heatwave Alert: Heatwave has started to rise across the country now. The temperature is slowly rising. Meanwhile, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has alerted the states and Union Territories about heat-related diseases. All of them were given the ‘National Action Plan’ has asked to pay attention to It said that the temperature has already reached high levels in some places in the country. In such a case, diseases caused by heat will also start increasing. Keeping this in mind, the Center has already alerted all the states.

The letter said that from March 1, 2023, all states and districts will have National Program on Climate Change and Human Health. (NPCCH) daily monitoring of heat related diseases will be done on Integrated Health Information Platform (IHIP).

This letter sent to states by NPCCHH, NCDC, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare indicates the forecast of heat wave. District and city health departments in all states have been directed to re-implement heat-related health action plans. Also, state health departments have been asked to sensitize medical officers, health workers, grassroots workers on heat illness, its early detection and management and to continue capacity building efforts.

Instructions issued to Health Department

Instructions have been issued to the Health Department for adequate availability of all essential medicines, ice packs, ORS and all essential items. Readiness of health facilities should be reviewed. Availability of drinking water at all health facilities has also been asked.
