H3N2 Influenza Virus: 79 cases of H3N2 virus reported in Puducherry, arrangements made in hospitals, health department told preventive measures

H3N2 Influenza Virus Cases in Puducherry: Seasonal influenza cases are increasing in the country. So far 79 cases related to influenza subtype H3N2 virus have been reported in the Union Territory of Puducherry. News agency PTI gave this information on Saturday (March 11) quoting a health official. 

Puducherry Medical Services Director G Sriramulu (G Sriramulu) in a press release gave information about people infected with H3N2 revealed till 4 March. It was also told that so far no one has lost his life in the state due to this virus. 

‘No need to panic’

It has been said by the health department that people do not need to panic, arrangements have been made at hospitals and primary health centers to keep an eye on the increasing cases. Special booths have been opened in Out Patient Departments (OPD) in hospitals and treatment has been provided for people with influenza symptoms.

Prevention Tips for H3N2 Virus

H3N2 virus and its symptoms

According to the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), H3N2 is a non-human influenza virus that commonly circulates in pigs and infects humans. Its symptoms match those of the seasonal flu virus. If infected with this, fever can occur. Respiratory symptoms such as cough or runny nose may also occur, as well as body aches, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.

Let us inform that so far two people infected with H3N2 virus have died in the country. The central government has advised the states to be alert about the virus and take effective steps for surveillance.
