H3N2: How many variants of influenza are active, which one is dangerous for humans, know everything

H3N2 Virus: With the change in weather, the risk of H3N2 variant of influenza virus has increased. Health experts are advising to take special precautions regarding this. Gujarat’s Additional Health Secretary Manoj Aggarwal said that there are four types of influenza virus- A, B, C and D. In this, influenza A H1N1 and H3N2 subtypes spread rapidly. Let us know what are these four types and which ones are more dangerous.

What is Influenza?
Influenza or flu is a respiratory infection disease which Caused by virus. It spreads all over the world and is included in the list of epidemics of the World Health Organization (WHO). According to WHO, there are four variants of seasonal influenza virus- A, B, C and D. 

It is important to know here that not all variants of flu are dangerous. Among these A and B are more infectious and cause seasonal epidemics. 

Influenza A- This virus causes most infections. It has two subvariants – H1N1 and H3N2. H1N1 is also known as swine flu which spread rapidly in 2009. The H3N2 virus is currently causing the infection.

Influenza B- It does not have any sub-variant but it has a lineage. The currently circulating B virus is of the Yamagata or Victoria lineage.

Influenza C- It is usually very rare and causes a mild infection. There is no need to worry much about this.

Influenza D- This virus mainly affects animals and is not known to cause infection in people.< /p>

Delhi government has issued an advisory
At the same time, amid the increasing threat of influenza, the Delhi government has issued an advisory on Friday (March 17). Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj said, not many cases of this virus have been reported in Delhi’s government hospitals, but district surveillance units, health facilities and government hospitals have been given strict instructions to monitor and prevent the spread of seasonal influenza.

How to protect
Delhi government’s advisory states that protection against corona and influenza is the same. 

According to the advisory, the elderly above 65 years and children below 5 years should be careful. Those who have asthma or covid, they should be careful. Avoid overcrowding. Don’t touch your mouth. Wash hands.

Center has also issued advisory
In view of the danger of H3N2 virus, the central government has also issued advisory in six states Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Maharashtra and Gujarat. However, it does not include Delhi.

Influenza patients increased in Maharashtra
The number of corona patients has decreased in Maharashtra in 24 hours but influenza infection has increased. As compared to Thursday, the number of corona patients in the state decreased from 226 to 197 on Friday. Meanwhile, Influenza patients increased to 166 on Friday. However, no deaths have been reported.
