The farmers of Haryana have been protesting for the last several days regarding the increase in the rate of sugarcane. On Sunday too, farmers protested at sugar mills located on Asandh, Indri and Meerut roads. The farmers say that they will continue their strike until the rate of sugarcane is reduced by Rs 400 per quintal. To decide the future strategy in this regard, a mahapanchayat of farmers’ organizations will be held today in Kurukshetra. Farmers in many districts are on an indefinite strike against the government for not increasing the rate of sugarcane. Daily loss of crores of rupees is being incurred due to non-payment of sugarcane in sugar mills. The farmers say that they will not rise from the strike until the government gives them their right. He says that the cost of sugarcane crop is increasing but the farmers are not getting the price of sugarcane. In such a situation, sugarcane cultivation is also being affected. Farmers are facing difficulties in cultivating sugarcane.
Sugar mills in these districts remained closed due to the strike
Kurukshetra, Panipat, Ambala. , along with one sugar mill each located in Yamunanagar, Kaithal districts, all the three sugar mills in Karnal remained closed on Sunday as well. The Chaudhary Devilal Cooperative Sugar Mill located in Ahulana village of Sonepat district remained closed for the third day on Sunday. Congress MLA from Baroda Induraj Narwal (MLA Induraj Narwal) reached the protest site and supported the farmers. Farmers say that they are being forced to close the mills. Farmers are also suffering due to closure of mills. But still the government is turning a blind eye.
