EWS Reservation: What is EWS Reservation Criteria? Find out who will benefit

EWS Reservation: The Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court delivered a historic judgment today Reservation for Economically Weaker Sections (Economically Weaker Sections Reservation) was made valid. This decision has sealed the decision taken by the central government. The central government implemented the EWS reservation through the 103rd constitutional amendment. This reservation has paved the way for reservation for economically backward people in government jobs and higher education.  

What are EWS reservation criteria? 

Central government has fixed the criteria for reservation for these economically backward sections (Economically Weaker Section reservation eligibility). Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and OBCs etc. cannot avail the benefit of this reservation. For this reservation open category candidates will be. 

Persons whose family income is less than eight lakh rupees can avail EWS  reservation.  For this reservation the concerned family should have less than 5 acres of land. Besides,  the size of the house should be less than 900 square feet. EWS reservation will be given as per these criteria. 

According to the central government decision, 10 percent seats will be reserved for government jobs and higher education for EWS category candidates. 

Constitutional Dissension

The validity of EWS reservation was heard in the Supreme Court before a five-judge constitution bench. A difference of opinion was seen in the verdict of the Constitution Bench headed by Chief Justice Uday Lalit. Chief Justice Uday Lalit and Justice Bhat said that economically reservation is unconstitutional. So, take it. Dinesh Maheshwari, Justice. Bela Trivedi, Justice Paradivala ruled in favor of reservation. It is said that this reservation does not violate the basic objectives of the Constitution. Reservation is said to be a tool. Reservation should not be kept indefinitely. Consider that provision of reservation is financially sound. Paradivala said. take Ravindra Bhat in his judgment opposed the provision of economic reservation. He said that this reservation is not compatible with the Constitution. He said that this decision has hit the core of social justice and constitution.
