Earthquake: Earthquake tremors in Arunachal Pradesh, measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale

Earthquake In Arunachal Pradesh: After the news that more than 100 earthquakes were felt in Taiwan, now it has been reported that strong earthquakes were felt in the Dibang valley of Arunachal Pradesh late on Sunday evening. The tremors were felt around 6.27 pm. The magnitude of which was 4.4 on the Richter scale. The National Center for Seismology said the quake’s depth was 10 km below the surface. Earthquakes have recently been felt in many parts of India. Earthquake tremors were also felt in Ladakh two days ago. 

The National Center for Seismology said on Friday that a magnitude 4.8 earthquake was felt 189 km north of Alchi in Leh. An earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale was felt 62 km east-northeast of Katra in Jammu and Kashmir early last week. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) is a Government of India agency that monitors seismic activity in the country. 

Earthquake in Taiwan

Several earthquake shocks were felt in Taiwan on Sunday itself. The magnitude of the earthquake was 7.2 on the Richter scale. Japan has issued a tsunami warning after a magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck off the coast of Taiwan. Many buildings collapsed in Taiwan. Roads, bridges were damaged and train coaches were derailed.  

According to the Taiwan Meteorological Department, the epicenter of the earthquake was in Taitung County. Tremors were also felt in the capital Taipei and the southwestern city of Kaohsiung. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said the earthquake struck at a depth of 10 kilometers about 50 kilometers north of Taitung at 2:44 pm on Sunday. According to one report, the magnitude of the earthquake was initially recorded as 7.2, but it was later downgraded to 6.9.
