West Bengal Flash Flood Accident: A major accident occurred in West Bengal on Wednesday night during Durga immersion. Jalpaiguri  Seven people died due to flash flood during immersion in Mal River here, while many people are still missing. Apart from this many people are still stuck in the river. The NDRF team is understood to be carrying out rescue operations till late night. Jalpaiguri SP Devarshi Dutta confirmed the incident. He said that the death toll in the accident may increase. So far 7 bodies have been pulled out from the river, while 10 injured have also been pulled out. People nearby said 30-40 people are still missing.

7 bodies found, 30-40 people still missing

Mal river water level suddenly rises during Durga idol immersion at Jalpaiguri in West Bengal Many people were swept away by the strong current. As soon as the incident was reported, there was a commotion, and people who were swept away in the water started screaming for their lives. Immediately after the accident, the district administration stopped the immersion program and started rescuing people. 7 dead bodies have been found in this accident and 10 injured have been rescued.

Mal river suddenly flooded

According to the information received, after worshiping Durga Mata for almost 9 days, on Wednesday Vijayadashami was celebrated in Jalpaiguri. Idols of Goddess Durga were taken to river Mal for immersion. The people participating in the immersion program looked very happy. Women used to apply vermilion to each other and sing farewell songs to Goddess Durga. There the children were playing games together. In the evening, the work of taking the idol of Durga Mata to the river for proper immersion began. But everything was ruined due to sudden flood.
