Dinesh Gope Arrest: NIA has arrested the country’s most notorious Naxalite leader Dinesh Gope. Gope is the head of the People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI). NIA has put a reward of Rs 25 lakh on him and Rs 5 lakh in Jharkhand.
Indian agencies, police and CRPF were looking for Naxalite leader Dinesh Gop for the last 15 years. Dinesh was active in Naxalite activities in Jharkhand for many years. More than 100 criminal cases are registered against this notorious Naxalite. The agency is interrogating Gop. Many associates of Dinesh Gop are still absconding.
The NIA had earlier filed a charge sheet against Dinesh Gope alias Kuldeep Yadav alias Badku, a resident of Khunti district in Jharkhand, in a case related to the recovery of Rs 25.38 lakh in contraband.
More than 100 criminal cases registered
According to NIA investigation, accused Dinesh Gope has more than 100 criminal cases registered against him in Jharkhand, Bihar and Odisha. Most of these cases pertain to murder, kidnapping, intimidation, extortion and raising funds for PLFI. The PLFI is a militant Maoist organization formed in 2007 in Jharkhand and is also a splinter group of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist).
Dinesh Gope was on the run for two decades
Dinesh Gop was absconding for almost two decades. On 3 February 2022, there was an encounter between PLFI led by Dinesh and security personnel in the forests of Gudri police station area of West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. Several rounds of firing took place in the encounter, before which the Naxalites entered the forest and Dinesh Gop managed to escape. Since then he was absconding.
