Delhi Riots: Delhi’s Karkarduma court has convicted nine people in the 2020 Delhi riots case. The court said the accused were part of an unruly mob. The objective of this mob was to cause maximum damage to the properties of persons belonging to a particular community.
This case relates to rioting, arson and vandalism in Gokulpuri area during the riots. The court convicted Mohammad Shahnawaz alias Shanu, Mohammad Shoaib alias Chutwa, Shahrukh, Rashid alias Raja, Azad, Ashraf Ali, Parvez and Mohammad Faisal.
What did the complainant say? >
A case was registered against Rashid alias Monu under sections of rioting, theft, inciting riot by arson, causing damage to property by arson and unlawful assembly. The complainant alleged that on February 24, 2020, around 1 to 2 pm, when he was present at his house at Chaman Park, Shiv Vihar Tiraha Road, he was pelted with stones in the street. There was a mob in the street, trying to break the gate of his house. She called her husband, who was on duty. They came and took him to a safe place and then locked the gate.
What is the matter?
It is also alleged that 24 -On the night of 25th February, the mob broke the back gate of his house and looted the goods inside. The complaint said that they also damaged the house and set fire to her room on the upper floor. During the investigation, efforts were made to identify other persons involved in the crime with the help of CCTV cameras, footage that went viral on social media and witnesses.
The Investigating Officer (IO) found that the accused Individuals involved in the 2020 case. Because of this, Mohammad Shahnawaz, Mohammad Shoaib, Shah Rukh, Rashid, Azad, Ashraf Ali, Parvez and Mohammad. Faisal and Rashid were arrested by the Crime Branch. The IO interrogated the accused and arrested them in the case.
