Dalai Lama Kiss Row: Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama on Monday (April 10) apologized after a video of him kissing a child sparked controversy. The Dalai Lama said he apologized to the child, his family and friends if his words had hurt sentiments. In the video, the Tibetan spiritual leader is allegedly asking the child to suck his tongue. This created a controversy.
In the two-minute-five-second video, the Dalai Lama asked the child to look for good human beings who create peace and happiness and not to follow those who kill others. The statement released on Monday said a video clip is circulating in which a child asks His Holiness the Dalai Lama if he can hug him.
According to the statement, the Dalai Lama would like to apologize to the child, his family and friends around the world if his words have hurt feelings. Let’s take what they meet and this happens in public and in front of cameras. He said that he regretted the incident.
After this video went viral on social media, people raised objections. Earlier in 2019, the Dalai Lama had courted controversy by saying that if his successor were to be a woman, she should be more attractive. He later apologized for his statement.
