Congress President Election: As tomorrow is the last day to file nomination papers for the post of Congress President, a big news has come out. Senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge may also join the race for Congress president. According to sources, Mallikarjun Kharge may file as a candidate on Friday (September 30) with the support of the Gandhi family. Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh and Congress MP Shashi Tharoor will also file their nomination papers on Friday.

In this, the leaders of the G-23 group of the Congress also held a meeting on Thursday amid the hype of the election of the Congress President. The meeting was held at the residence of Anand Sharma. Many leaders including Manish Tiwari, Prithviraj Chavan, Bhupendra Hooda were present in this meeting. Sources say the G-23 group may also field a presidential candidate. The G-23 group has convened another meeting on Friday.

After Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, Digvijay Singh, now there is talk of G-23 group also fielding candidates. At the same time, Mallikarjun Kharge can also contest the elections as a favorite of the Gandhi family. After all these developments, the election of the Congress president has become more colorful. A source close to a senior party leader had already hinted that Mallikarjun Kharge would contest the election. Congress President Sonia Gandhi said while senior party leader M Mallikarjun Kharge will not hesitate to contest for the post of All India Congress Committee (AICC), sources said on Wednesday. /strong>

Mallikarjun Kharge has good relations with opposition leaders like Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Sharad Pawar and CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury. Which will give them additional benefits. They have their base in Hindi speaking states. Meanwhile, Friday (September 30) is the last date for filing applications for the Congress president election. So the name can be withdrawn till October 8. Elections will be held on October 17 and the results will be announced on October 19.
