Bishnoi community opposition to cheetahs brought from Africa to India; A letter to Prime Minister Modi

Cheetahs imported from Namibia have been released in Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. A controversy has started over these cheetahs. The Bishnoi community, which has always been at the forefront of animal protection, has objected to the release of cheetahs and deer in the Kuno National Park to feed the cheetahs. Bishnoi community is protesting against this. People of Bishnoi community have started dharna movement outside the collector office in Fatehabad, Haryana regarding this matter.

Letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi

All India Bishnoi Mahasabha president Devendra Budiya has sent a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing his displeasure over 181 cheetahs and deer being sent from Rajgad forest to Sheopur to satisfy the hunger of 8 cheetahs brought from Namibia to Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh.

Devendra Budia in a letter to PM Modi said that the Indian government has brought 8 cheetahs from Namibia under his leadership to restore the extinct species in the forests of India. But leaving their food mainly chital, deer etc. in the forest has hurt the sentiments of the Bishnoi community.
