Ankita Bhandari Murder Case: In the Ankita Bhandari murder case, the Supreme Court sought the status report of the investigation from the Uttarakhand government

Supreme Court Order on Ankita Bhandari Murder Case: The Supreme Court on Monday asked the Uttarakhand government to file a status report on the investigation carried out in the 19-year-old Ankita Bhandari murder case. A bench of Justices KM Joseph and BV Nagaratna passed the order while hearing a petition filed by Ankita Bhandari’s family members.

Actually, the petitioner’s lawyer had sought the status report of the investigation so far while demanding a CBI inquiry into the matter. After this the court ordered regarding this.

Ankita used to work in a resort near Rishikesh

Ankita Bhandari worked as a receptionist at Vanantara Resort near Rishikesh. It is alleged that her boss Pulkit Arya (son of BJP leader Vinod Arya) and two of his accomplices together murdered Ankita. It was then revealed that Ankita was murdered simply because she refused to provide extra services to a VIP guest.

State Police investigation pointed out several lapses

After the murder of Ankita Bhandari, Vinod Arya was expelled from the BJP amid protests demanding action against the accused. During the hearing, the counsel for the petitioners raised several questions on the manner of investigation and claimed that there were several lapses in the investigation conducted by the State Police.

Because of this the victim’s family moved the Supreme Court

In this petition filed by a journalist and Ankita Bhandari’s parents, the Uttarakhand High Court’s order dated December 21, 2022 was challenged in which it rejected the demand for CBI inquiry. Then the High Court had said that an SIT is already probing the matter and it should not be doubted. But as no major action has been taken so far, the angry family once again moved the court.
