Amritpal Row: Arms license of 2 bodyguards of Amritpal Singh canceled, action on pro-Khalistan YouTube channel as well

Ajnala Violence: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has taken strict action against Jathedar Amritpal Singh of pro-Khalistan organization ‘Waris Punjab De’. The state police has canceled the arms licenses of two of Amritpal’s bodyguards. These licenses were issued from Jammu and Kashmir only. Apart from this, action has also been taken on YouTube channels supporting Khalistan.

Deputy Commissioner of Kishtwar and Ramban in Jammu and Kashmir said that orders have been issued to cancel the arms license issued to two bodyguards of Amritpal Singh. These include the names of retired soldier Varinder Singh from 19 Sikh Regiment and retired soldier Talwinder Singh from 23 Armored Punjab. The Punjab Police has also arrested Varinder Singh.

Why the action?

Recently, supporters of Jathedar Amritpal Singh of the pro-Khalistan organization ‘Waris Punjab De’ attacked a police station in Ajnala, Punjab. Keeping this in mind, this action has been taken. Singh’s supporters were armed and were demanding the release of one of their comrades. Another official told that the channel has been ‘blocked’. YouTube is taking action within 48 hours on the government’s request to do so.
