4 October In History: Vajpayee’s speech in UN in Hindi and establishment of WikiLeaks which leaked confidential information, today in history

Mumbai: Today is a very important day in the history of Indian democracy. After the Janata Party government came to power under the leadership of Morarji Desai in 1977, they arrested former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on October 3, 1977. After 16 hours of detention, on 4th October 1977, Indira Gandhi was released by the Supreme Court. WikiLeaks, which created a sensation around the world by revealing confidential reports, was founded on this day in 2006.

1535- English The first printing of the Bible in the language 

The printing of the first complete Bible in the English language was completed on this day, October 4, 1535.  This was printed by Miles Coverdale. 

1857- Birth of revolutionary Shyamji Krishna Varma 

Shyamji Krishna, Indian revolutionary, lawyer and journalist Verma was born on 4 October 1857. He founded the Indian Home Rule Society and India House. He founded the journal Indian Sociologist in London. Through that he criticized British Indian policies. This forced him to leave London and later moved to Paris. 

1957- Soviet Russia’s first satellite Sputnik launched into space 

October 4, 1957 Science And became an important milestone in the progress of technological development. On this day, Soviet Russia successfully launched the satellite Sputnik 1 (Sputnik 1) into space. Soviet Russia became the first country in the world to achieve such a feat. After this performance of Russia, the Cold War between America and Russia started in space as well.  On January 31, 1958, America sent its first satellite into space. India launched the Aryabhat satellite into space on 19 April 1975.  

1977- Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s address to the United Nations in Hindi 

After the Janata Party government came to power, Atal Bihari Vajpayee was in that government. He became the Foreign Minister. On October 4, 1977, Atal Bihari Vajpayee addressed the United Nations in Hindi. He was the first Indian person to do so. After Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s speech, the leaders of the world who were present at that place applauded him loudly. WikiLeaks was founded on October 4, 2006, which exposes confidential information of leaders and creates sensation. WikiLeaks was founded by Julian Assange through Sunshine Press. 

WikiLeaks is a controversial non-profit organization that publishes confidential and secret news worldwide. WikiLeaks has published millions of secret and sensitive government documents, reports and memos through its website. WikiLeaks claimed to have published one crore documents in its first ten years till 2015.
