27th September In History : Birth of Bhagat Singh and the start of Google search engine, 27th September is witness to these events.

Mumbai : The month of September has seen many important events in history. 27th September is historically significant in many ways. On this day, 27 September 1833, Raja Ram Mohan Roy, the father of modern India, passed away. Also Merumani Bhagatsingh of Indian revolutionaries was born on this day. Let’s know what happened on this day in history. 

1833- Death of Raja Ram Mohan Roy 

Raja Ram Mohan Roy is known as the ‘Father of Modern India’. . Raja Rammohan Roy had a great contribution in initiating many reforms that took place in the Indian society. Raja Ram Mohan Roy opposed the practice of sati in Bengal and stopped the inhumane practice. He opposed the practice of polygamy. He also tried to stop immoral practices in the society. 

Raja Rammohan Roy opposed idolatry and undesirable practices in Hinduism. He supported monotheism. He was a staunch advocate of equality between men and women. He established Atmiya Sabha to promote social reforms. He started a social and religious movement by founding the Brahmo Samaj. The British recognized his work and gave him the title of Raja. Raja Ram Mohan Roy died on September 27, 1833. 

1907- Bhagat Singh’s birthday 

Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh (Bhagat Singh) known as Merumani of Indian revolutionaries. He was born on this day i.e. 27 September 1907. He had a patriotic family background. The Jallianwala Bagh massacre on 13 April 1919 affected his mind so much that he vowed to expel the British from the country. Bhagat Singh along with Chandrashekhar Azad formed the ‘Hindustan Socialist Republican Association’ on 9 September 1925. (HSRA)’ established. The main objective of this organization was to overthrow the British government through armed revolution. Lala Lajpatrai died in 1927 when he was attacked by the British while opposing the Simon Commission. As a revenge, Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru killed Saunders. 

They protested even when they were imprisoned by the British. Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were later charged with Saunders’ murder. On March 23, 1931, India’s greatest revolutionaries, freedom fighters, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were hanged by the British government.

1996- Taliban capture of Kabul 

On September 27, 1996, Mohammad Umar Under his leadership, the Taliban captured Kabul. The Taliban then overthrew the democratic government in Afghanistan and established a government in Afghanistan. Then after the 26/11 terrorist attacks in America, America attacked Afghanistan to eliminate Osama Bin Laden and overthrow the government of Taliban. Google was founded by students Larry Page and Sergey Ben on this day, September 27, 1998. Today Google search engine is used to find information about anything in the world. The invention of Google search engine is a revolutionary invention in the field of technology. 

2020- President Ram Nath Kovind approves the Agriculture Bills 

On 27th September 2020, three controversial agriculture laws were approved by the Modi government. The then President Ram Nath Kovind gave approval. The Modi government had passed three bills in Parliament to amend the Agriculture Act. Farmers in Punjab and Haryana protested against this agriculture act. This movement was carried out for more than a year. Finally, under the pressure of this movement, the Modi government withdrew those controversial bills.
