Public Opinion On 2000 Rupee Note: After the decision of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday (May 19) regarding 2000 thousand rupee notes, there was a political uproar in the country. The opposition is constantly attacking the government. Opposition parties are asking the question that when these notes were to be banned then why did they bring them? At the same time, public opinion is completely different from the opposition. Most people stood by this decision.
Congress leader Sachin Pilot says that demonetisation took place then it was said that black money would end, fake notes would end. All that did not happen. Now suddenly information has come that 2000 notes are going to be closed, so what is the need to create such an earthquake? On this the general public says, “The back of the big people is broken. Even if we have it, at most two or three notes would be lying at home. There won’t be more than this. That’s why there is no tension for us.”
‘Commendable step by the government’
Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal says, “Sometimes they say that to end corruption, they brought a note of 2 thousand rupees, sometimes they say that they removed it to end corruption. Meaning, it is not understood what the government is doing, keeping the whole country in queues.”
On the other hand, the public says, “According to us, this is a commendable step of the government. We citizens will not have any problem. This decision is in the national interest and it will only benefit the country.”
Why the decision to withdraw notes?
On this question, experts say that two thousand notes are usually not being used in the transaction. This decision has been taken under the clean note policy. 2000 notes kept decreasing continuously from the market. The value of these notes as on March 31, 2018 was Rs 6.73 lakh crore, which has come down to Rs 3.62 lakh crore on March 31, 2023. So in such a situation who will get hurt if the notes are banned, time will tell.
