1918 : Austria became a republic country 
On this day in the year Austria became a republic country. Austria has played an important role in the history of Europe since historical times and has faced most of the major wars. Austria, provoked by the German Empire, went to war against Serbia, which quickly turned into World War I. After the defeat in 1918, the first Austrian Republic was created. 
 
Indira Gandhi was expelled from the party when she was Prime Minister

1967: On this day Indira Gandhi was dismissed from the party when she was the Prime Minister. Soon after Indira Gandhi became the Prime Minister, there was a split in the Congress.   Finally, in the 1967 elections, the Congress lost 60 seats. It came to power by winning 297 out of 545   seats. Morarji Desai had to be given the post of Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister. However, in 1969, Congress split into two due to disputes with Morarji. Indira Gandhi saved the government by getting the support of other parties.

 Bird lover Salim Ali born in 1896 
1896 : The famous Indian bird lover Salim Ali was born in 1896. An Indian ornithologist of international fame.  His work is considered an important milestone in the development of ornithology. Salim Ali was born in a middle class Muslim family in Mumbai. His full name was Salim Moinuddin Abdul Ali. His father died when he was one year old and his mother two years later. His uncle Amiruddin Tayyabji took care of him. His bird studies were very extensive and he wrote extensively on them. The Government of India conferred upon him the titles of Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan, and also appointed him as a member of the Rajya Sabha. The Salim Ali Center for Ornithology and Natural History (SACON) has been started in his name at Coimbatore in the state of Tamil Nadu.  
 
Birth of Gabbar Singh aka Amjad Khan

Famous actor Amjad Khan was born on this day in 1940. He acted in  130 films in his Bollywood career of about twenty years. His character Gabbar Singh in the 1975 film Sholay made him famous. His villainous roles in many Hindi films including Muqaddar Ka Sikandar brought him immense fame.

1946  : Death of Madan Mohan Malviya 

The great freedom fighter and social reformer Madan Mohan Malviya died on this day in 1946. Malviya was born to Pandit Baijnath and Muna Devi Malviya in a Brahmin family on 25 December 1861 in Allahabad. Their ancestors were originally from Malwa (Ujjain) in present day Madhya Pradesh and hence they came to be known as Malaviyas. The Malaviyas worked to promote modern education among Indians. He established the Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi.    

1998 : The “Persons of Indian Origin’ Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee announced that it has been decided to implement the (PIO) Identity Card Scheme. The implementation of this scheme actually started from September 15, 2002.

2000: November 12 is observed as ’National Public Broadcasting Day’ So it was decided to celebrate. On this day in 1947, Mahatma Gandhi’s speech was broadcast on Delhi Akashvani.

1880: Birth of ‘Senapati’ Bapat

 
1904 :  Socialist, labor leader S. M. Joshi’s birth
 Socialist, labor leader, journalist, advocate of United Maharashtra Movement Sridhar Mahadev and S. M. Joshi was born on this day in 1904. He was a loyal socialist leader and labor leader. ‘Esem’ They are known by this name. He was born in Junnar (Pune) was born in a middle class family. In some agitations, they were arrested and punished. During this period he studied Marx’s thought and socialism and became a socialist.  He has also written extensively. He was elected to the Bombay Legislative Assembly in 1957 and became the President of the Praja Samajwadi Party in 1963. Later he was also elected as the president of the Samyukta Samajwadi Party."text-align: justify;">Keshavrao Marutrao Jedhe, a freedom fighter, a prominent leader of the United Maharashtra Movement, a founder of the Shetkari Kamgar Party, died on this day in 1959. He was born on 9 May 1886. Jedhe has to be credited for erecting the statue of Mahatma Phule in Pune.  He participated in many movements of untouchables. Despite being in politics, he wrote extensively in this capacity. He was the president of Maharashtra‘s first Tamasha Parishad.

2005: Prof. Death of Madhu Dandavate 

Socialist leader, economist and social worker Prof. Madhu Dandavate died on this day in 2005. Samajwadi leader Prof. Madhu Dandavate was known as an excellent parliamentarian. He represented the Rajapur Lok Sabha constituency in Konkan for a long time from 1971 to 1990. Railway Minister in 1978 under Janata Party regime, in 1989 V. P. He served as Finance Minister in the Singh government and Vice Chairman of the Planning Commission in 1990 when Deve Gowda was Prime Minister. Dandavat took a revolutionary decision in the history of Indian Railways. Dandavats provided two inch cushions for the second class benches. Due to this decision of Dandavat, lakhs and crores of poor people can travel comfortably in second class.
