Telangana Rains: The Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in the state of Telangana on Friday. Heavy rains are already falling across the state. On Friday, heavy rains will occur in Adilabad, Kumuram Bhim Asifabad, Manchiryala, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagityala, Rajanna Sirisilla, Karimnagar and Peddapalli districts, the Meteorological Department said on Thursday. Heavy rains are likely to occur in the rest of the districts as well, it said. It has been said that there is a possibility of heavy rains with thunder and lightening at many places in Hyderabad city as well. A trough is continuing over Karnataka, south Telangana and north coast to a low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal. Due to this effect, heavy rains are likely to occur in the state on Friday and Saturday.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad city received heavy rain on Thursday. Incessant rain made the roads muddy. Roads and ponds have merged. The rain started suddenly yesterday afternoon and continued till Friday morning. As a result, all the roads in the city turned into ponds. The vehicles carrying the idols of Ganesha for immersion stopped everywhere. Capra recorded maximum rainfall of 7.5 cm while Malkajgiri recorded 6.9 cm of rainfall.
On the other hand, in the wake of two days of heavy rains, flood water is reaching the twin reservoirs of Osmansagar and Himayat Sagar in the suburbs of Hyderabad. With this, the officials lifted the two gates of the twin reservoirs and released the flood into Musi. Water Board officials have advised that the Musi catchment areas should be alert. Presently Himayat Sagar inflow is 500 and outflow is 678 cusecs. Osmansagar inflow is 600 and outflow is 442 cusecs.
