The Himachal Pradesh unit of the BJP on Wednesday expelled rebel candidate Chetan Bragata, who refused to withdraw his nomination for the by-election to the Jabal-Kotkhai assembly seat. This seat was vacant due to the death of Chetan’s father. Polling for this seat will be held on October 30.
State BJP president Suresh Kashyap has expelled BJP’s IT cell’s state convener Chetan Bragata from the party for six years for filing nomination against the party’s official candidate from the Jabal-Kotkhai seat, Neelam Saraik.
Late minister Narendra Bragata’s son Chetan was hopeful that he would get a BJP ticket. However, the party reposed faith in Neelam who had contested the 2017 assembly elections as an independent against her father.
By-elections will be held on the Jabal-Kotkhai assembly seat along with Mandi Lok Sabha, Arki and Fatehpur assembly seats.
