Loss in Himachal Pradesh bypolls eye opener for party: BJP leader

Shimla, Nov 25 (PTI) BJP leader Avinash Rai Khanna on Thursday said the defeat of the party (BJP) in the recent by-elections to Lok Sabha and assembly seats in Himachal Pradesh was eye-opening.

Khanna, however, exuded confidence that despite the setbacks in the bypolls, the BJP would emerge victorious in the 2022 assembly elections.

Khanna, who is in charge of BJP affairs in Himachal Pradesh, made the remarks during his three-day visit to the state.

Significantly, the ruling BJP was defeated in the recently held by-elections to Mandi Lok Sabha seat and three assembly seats Fatehpur, Arki and Jubbal-Kotkhai.

Meanwhile, BJP’s core group meeting was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of MP Suresh Kashyap at Peterhof, Shimla. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal attended the meeting. Apart from them, BJP leaders Sanjay Tandon, Satpal Satti, Rajiv Bindal, Pawan Rana, Trilok Jamwal, Rajiv Saizal, Rakesh Jamwal and Trilok Kapoor also participated in the meeting.
