Thakur said that these two personalities from the film fraternity would be honored with this award during the 52nd edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
“The Indian Personality of the Year award will be given to actress Hema Malini and lyricist Prasoon Joshi during the IFFI to be held in Goa,” Thakur told reporters here.
The Union Minister had arrived here to participate in the All India Conference of Presiding Officers.
The purpose of this award is to celebrate the remarkable contribution of film personalities to cinema, he added.
Hema Malini is also a BJP Lok Sabha MP from Mathura. She has been working in the Indian film industry for over five decades. Some of her notable films include ‘Sholay’, ‘Sharafat’, ‘Tum Haseen Main Jawan’, ‘Naya Zamana’, ‘Raja Jani’, ‘Sita Aur Geeta’, ‘Dost’ and ‘Baghban’.
Joshi is currently the chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). He wrote songs for several films like ‘Hum Tum’, ‘Black’, ‘Rang De Basanti’, ‘Taare Zameen Par’ and ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ which were huge hits.
Last year, veteran actor-producer Biswajit Chatterjee was honored with the ‘Indian Personality of the Year’ award.
