Ahmedabad: An important hearing will be held today in the defamation case filed against Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav for calling Gujaratis thugs. In this, it can be decided whether summons should be sent to Tejashwi Yadav or not. The hearing is fixed at three o’clock in the Metropolitan Court of Ahmedabad. In this today some witnesses will be presented on behalf of the complainant. The last hearing in this matter was held on May 8. In which the court had issued an order for inquiry along with presenting the evidence to the complainant. The Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar is accused of insulting the people of Gujarat with his statement.
What happened so far?
Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav told the media on March 21 that in the present situation only Gujaratis can be thugs. They will also be forgiven. A month later, on April 26, Ahmedabad-based businessman and social worker Haresh Mehta filed a defamation case in Tejashwi Yadav’s court. The first hearing in this case was held on May 1, Gujarat State Foundation Day. A hearing was held in the Metropolitan Court. In the first hearing, the statement of the complainant was recorded. After this, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate D J Parmar fixed the next date of hearing on May 8. In the second hearing, the court ordered an inquiry and asked the complainant to produce evidence. So that it is clear that there was defamation.
Witnesses can be produced
Haresh Mehta, who has filed a defamation case against Tejashwi Yadav, has said in his complaint that the people of Gujarat have been insulted by the statement of the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar. In such a situation, after recording the statement of Tejashwi Yadav on behalf of Haresh Mehta today some people can be presented as witnesses. Those who can say in the court that yes they too have been hurt by Tejashwi Yadav’s statement. According to the information received from the side of the complainant, five to six witnesses will be produced in the court after permission, who are from different parts of Gujarat. Hearing will be held in the court at three o’clock
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate D J Parmar will hold the third hearing in the matter today. After the production and inquiry of the witnesses, it has to be seen what stand the court takes in this matter, as complainant Haresh Mehta has demanded action against Tejashwi Yadav in this matter. He has said in his application that Tejashwi has collectively called all Gujaratis thugs.
