WABetaInfo has spotted an in-development feature in the latest WhatsApp beta release for iOS and shared screenshots showcasing the upcoming changes.

Currently, if you share a URL as a status update on WhatsApp, it does not generate link previews. You see the normal URL, but you can tap on that link to go to that website. Although WhatsApp wants to change this. The leaked screenshot shows what a rich link preview might look like. The preview will likely include an image from the targeted website, title, meta description, and URL.

WABetaInfo spotted this change in the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS, but it’s not live yet. This suggests that it may be in the development stage and may roll out on the beta channel with future updates. WhatsApp hasn’t shared any official information on the matter yet, but we expect the changes to happen in the coming weeks for WhatsApp for Android and desktop.
