- medicines will reach home
Flipkart has announced that it has acquired a majority stake in the online pharmacy and digital healthcare platform. However, the company has not disclosed how big the deal is. Along with this, the company has launched its Flipkart Health+ program, which aims to provide affordable and convenient healthcare to its consumers.
SastaSundar.com is a renowned digital healthcare and pharmacy platform in India. It is supported by a network of more than 490 pharmacies. Its main objective is to provide affordable and quality healthcare to the users in India. It procures products from authorized sources and makes them available across the country. This firm provides personal counseling through this network. Not only this, it is also the first to provide solutions for a range of health related needs.
The aim of this new initiative taken by the company is to provide quality and affordable facilities to the Indian users. For this, the company is planning to start with e-pharmacy first. This simply means that Flipkart Health+ users will be allowed to buy and deliver pharmaceuticals to their homes through its online portal. After this, talking about the company’s plan, the company is planning to add new health services including e-consultation including e-diagnostics and e-consultation over time. Flipkart Health+ will report to Senior Vice President and Flipkart veteran Ajay Veer Yadav.
This is being seen as a new initiative by Flipkart for rival e-commerce firms in the country regarding takeovers and new ventures. Many of these have already entered the online pharmacy space. For example, Amazon India launched Amazon Pharmacy in Bengaluru in August last year. On the other hand, Tata Digital had earlier this year bought Flipkart-like online pharmacy 1mg. E-pharmacy is one of the emerging categories in the e-commerce space with such tough competition being witnessed across all verticals and will soon become the norm in the country.
