The Government of India has implemented FASTag, a digital system for toll collecting, across the country to reduce the long traffic tolls at toll plazas. The National Highway Authority of India operates FASTag. FASTag is an electronic toll collection system that deducts toll directly from users’ linked account with the help of radio frequency technology. Due to this the waiting at the toll plaza has reduced considerably as compared to earlier.
The central government has made FASTag mandatory for all private and commercial vehicles.
