Airtel has overtaken Reliance Jio in terms of adding new users. According to TRAI’s latest data, Airtel added 20.9 lakh new users in August 2020. With this, the total number of wireless subscribers of Airtel has increased to 32.28 crores. At the same time, in terms of Jio, 18.6 lakh users were added to Jio’s network in August 2020. With the addition of new users, Jio’s subscriber base has increased to 40.27 crore. In terms of total user base, Jio was ahead of all other companies this time too.
Airtel has the most active users
According to TRAI’s data, 78.8 percent of Jio’s total users are active users. At the same time, talking about Airtel, the number of its active users is 96.85 percent. Vodafone was also in loss this time. In August, the company suffered a loss of 1.2 million users. Vodafone’s total user base in India is 30.01 crore and its number of active users is 88.18 percent.
Slight decline in active user base
There has been a slight decline in the active user base of the three companies. Jio currently has 8.78 crore interactive users. At the same time, the number of inactive users of Airtel is 1.01 crore and the number of inactive users of Vodafone is around 3.54 crore. The address of the inactive user runs from the visitor location register (VLR). The movement to a user’s location is checked to locate the active user. It is a temporary database. If the user is using calling and SMS service, it means that it will be available in VLR. It gives correct information of active and inactive users.
Increased number of wireless users
According to the data, the number of wireless users (2G, 3G, 4G) in the country has increased from 114.41 crore to 114.79 crore in July. According to this, the growth rate of new users was 0.33 percent.
Broadband user base also increased
Talking about the overall broadband (wired + wireless) users, it increased from 70.54 crores to 71.61 crores in August. Jio topped it with a share of 56.40 percent. Airtel with 22.20 percent share and Vodafone-Idea with 16.74 percent share stood at number two.
