When ‘many’ actor Manoj Pahwa was body-shamed, relatives say – he has gone to become an actor with 110 kg

Used to shaming his body. Manoj told, ‘When I was 30 years old, when I left my father’s business and shifted to Mumbai in the desire of becoming an actor. By this time though I was married and had two children. At that time it was the responsibility of the family. Relatives used to say that someone has cast a spell on me and I am 110 kg overweight and want to become an actor from above. However, all these things did not bother him. He believed in himself that he would definitely do something.

When Manoj Pahwa did TV for 15 years
Manoj Pahwa further told that when he came into the industry, the wave of TV was strong at that time, like the web series in today’s time. ‘TV is doing well at that time. There were many types of shows. We just wanted to do good work at that time. Never came thinking that only films have to be done. Manoj Pahwa never had any fear because of doing TV but when he started doing films, he definitely got upset. To be honest, I never faced any problem after coming to Mumbai. But yes I had some friends who told me not to do TV as there are some Tycasts which I will have to face. Was told you would be overexposed on TV. But it didn’t matter to me. I did TV for 15 years and also did some films. I also got offers for some typical films like ‘Hero Ka Dost’ comedy types. But I got rejected many times. Although I was happy with my work. But when the concept of daily soap came, I started doing films and commercials. Also did movies like Wanted and Singh is King.

Manoj Pahwa was upset with comedy roles
According to the actor, ‘All the roles I was getting were of comedy, it got me upset. Meaning nothing different and good was not getting. Despite this, I had to accept comedy roles to run the house. But when I got an offer from Article 15, Dil Dhadakne Do, Mulk, I saw a change. Anubhav Sinha told me that he doubted me when he was offering me Mulk. Because I was a comedian and his team was scared about whether I would be able to do serial roles or not. But he took a chance and see. I got the Best Actor Award for Negative Role in Article 15.
