An actor was brutally murdered in broad daylight in the town of Bantwal in Karnataka. Coastalwood (Tulu Cinema) actor and rowdy sheeter Surendra Bantwal, 39, was brutally murdered in his apartment on BC Road on Wednesday, police said. Surendra Ontininda was stabbed and his body was lying on the sofa, police said. Police suspect that the murder may have been due to financial transactions. Surendra was detained at his home and police arrived at a preliminary conclusion that he had committed the murder in broad daylight. According to TD Nagaraj, Bantwal town inspector and investigating officer, Surendra was detained at his house shortly after graduation and stabbed to death with a sharp weapon. Financial transactions are suspected to be the reason for the murder. The case is being investigated from all angles. Police have formed teams and launched a search to nab the culprits. Nagaraj said forensic and dog swad had also entered the field and were gathering evidence. However, police said that there were 13 criminal cases against Surendra who was killed. Surendra was arrested by the police in 2018 for allegedly attacking two BJP activists with deadly weapons. At that time, the video of Surendra’s attack went viral on social media. A road sheet was also opened against Surendra. Surendra joined the Congress party during the last general election. He also acted in several films including the Tulu film ‘Chali Polilu’ and the Kannada film ‘Savarna Dheergha Sandhi’.
