However, Film Federation of India Jury Board Chairman Rahul Ravial has revealed the reasons behind the selection of ‘Jallikattu’ for the Oscars out of these 27 films. Rahul praised the film’s theme, production quality and Lijo Jose Pellissery’s direction.

“It’s a film that really exposes the barbarism in humans. A movie that says we are worse than animals. Humans behave worse than animals. This is wonderfully shown in this movie. This is a movie we can all be proud of. Not only the story but also the movie is very well shot. The emotions in the movie move us. Lijo is a very talented director. “There are many reasons why we voted for ‘Jallikattu’,” Rahul said.
‘Jallikattu’ is a story based on the short story ‘Maoist’ written by Harish S. R. Harish co-wrote the screenplay with Jayakumar. This is the third time that a Malayalam film from India has been nominated for an Oscar in the Best International Feature Film category. ‘Adaminte Makan Abu’ in 2011 and ‘Guru’ in 1997 were nominated for Oscars. However, these films did not earn a place in the Academy Awards nomination list.
The Malayalam film has been translated into Telugu by popular OTT platform ‘Aha’. The film is currently available on ‘Aaha’.
