Banwarilal Purohit has been the Governor of Tamil Nadu since 2017. It is said to be a great honor for Krishnam Raju who is loyal to the BJP.
Krishnam Raju hails from Narasapuram in West Godavari district. He started his political journey by joining the Congress party. In 1991, he contested from Narasapuram constituency on behalf of the Congress. He then joined the BJP and contested from Kakinada constituency and won by a margin of 1 lakh 65 thousand votes.
Krishnam Raju was a minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government. He was re-elected from Kakinada constituency in 1999 and became the BJP’s Korada in the Lok Sabha. In 2001, he was elected to the Central Cabinet.
If only Krishnam Raju is appointed, he will be the second Andhra leader to become the Governor of Tamil Nadu after Rosaiah.
This is not the first time that information has come out that Krishnam Raju may be appointed as the Governor of Tamil Nadu. It is noteworthy that he was previously named in 2017.
