Taapsee does not bother
Pannu, whose new film ‘Dobaara’ with filmmaker Anurag Kashyap hit the theaters on Friday, said that she has stopped being bothered by social media trends. Pannu said during a press conference here, ‘If something like this happens on a daily basis, then one stops worrying. It becomes useless. I have one such dialogue in one of my films.
She said, ‘I can’t talk about others in the industry, but it has become a joke for me and Anurag.’ The trend of the hashtag boycotting a film started with Aamir Khan’s ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’. When asked to talk about the trend of social media, Aamir had said that he is saddened by the boycott and urged the audience to watch his film. Later, similar hashtags against Akshay Kumar’s ‘Raksha Bandhan’ surfaced on the online platform. Some netizens also called for a boycott of ‘again’.
Boycott undermines audience intelligence
Taapsee said, ‘If the audience likes, they will go to see the film. If they don’t like it, they won’t go. But boycotting is like reducing the intelligence of the audience. Pannu rubbished rumors that ‘Dobaara’ is based on the 2018 Spanish film ‘Mirage’.
movie is not copy
He said, “The content of our film was decided in March 2018, while the photo of Spain was announced in November that year. ‘Dagaara’ is neither copied nor inspired. Unfortunately Kovid-19 came and it got delayed.’ The mystery drama revolves around how a woman named Antara (Pannu) gets a chance to save the life of a 12-year-old boy, who witnessed death during a thunderstorm 25 years ago.
Why is it special again?
He said that ‘Dobaara’ is Kashyap’s most entertaining film till date and no one can dare to try such a subject in Hindi cinema as everyone wants to play safe. Billed as a thriller thriller, the film also stars Pavail Gulati and Rahul Bhatt.
