Pa Ranjith himself is preparing the story for the film. The background of the film is the Kolar gold mine in Karnataka. The theme of the film is an incident that took place in the Kolar gold mine in the 19th century. Produced by Studio Green and Neelam Productions, the film is produced by KE Gnanavel Raja. Tangalan will be the highest budget film under Studio Green’s banner so far.
