Every film festival is a celebration of movies and excitement of movie goers. The windows of the world of sight are being opened in front of the audience on the silver screen. There, the lives, cultures, conflicts and emotions of different countries are experienced by familiar and unfamiliar people. Often the characters descend from the silver screen in a huge crowd, accompanying the audience to their homes. At the 27th Kerala International Film Festival in Thiruvananthapuram, a handful of films are becoming crown jewels for Malayalam through the open window of world cinema. Malayalam cinema’s revolutionary director Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Nan Pagal Neerth Mayakam, Sanal Kumar Sasidharan’s fight and Mahesh Narayanan’s announcement are creating a big discussion from Malayalam cinema in the Mela. Along with this, Peruma is creating a handful of films for Malayalam cinema this time.

Film buffs were eagerly waiting to see Mammootty’s Nankakal Nereth Mayakam directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery on the silver screen. Ever since its first screening at the fair, the film has been getting a good response on social media. The audience is saying that the film’s performance is among the top 15 films of Mammootty’s career and the film is the magic of director Lijo Jose Pellissery. There are comments on the social media about the film saying that ‘Nankamal Kakama’ is a reminder that no one is always with you and that people are lonely at times.

Viewers say that Sanal Kumar Sasidharan’s fight is now going to be praised. Tovino Thomas and Kani Kasumi starrer in the fight, the reaction of the audience was very disturbing and the success of the film. The picture shows exactly what the fight is about. Sanalkumar Sasidharan was a controversial director recently. He is silencing critics with his films. Mahesh Narayan’s announcement reached Kerala’s film festivals with a brilliant reception in various audiences of the world. With Kunchacko Boban and Divya Prabha in lead roles, the film tells the story set against the backdrop of Covid-19. Mahesh Narayanan says, “I am completely satisfied with the journey of the announcement. I am happy with the response the film has received at various film festivals around the world.”

Siddharth Siva’s Yes Aadhaar Aan is another Malayalam movie that got a good response. Siddharth Siva is an award winning director. Namitha Pramod played the lead role in the film and the screenplay was written by actress Sajitha Math. The film is considered to have the best female lead of the year. The film visualizes how the hypocrisy of a university teacher throws a woman’s life into darkness. Dr. Biju’s films such as The Portraits, Freedom Fight, Pata and Normal are being screened at Yashasuyarthi Mela for Malayalam.
