Amber Heard’s lawyer made this demand after three weeks of recording statements in court when Johnny Depp’s lawyer finished his arguments. Amber’s lawyer claimed that Johnny had failed to prove in the case that his client’s article in The Washington Post in December 2018 caused any defamation. He said, ‘The court should dismiss this case because there is strong evidence that Johnny committed domestic violence with Amber.’
The judge rejected the demand
On this demand of Amber’s lawyer, Johnny Depp’s lawyer demanded the judge not to do so, claiming that he had proved in court that Amber was the one to speak ill of Johnny. After hearing the arguments of both the lawyers, the judge said that so far sufficient evidence has been placed in the court, on the basis of which permission can be given to proceed the case and Amber should now leave the matter to the 7-judge bench.
What was the matter?
Amber Heard did not name Johnny in his article but indicated that he had been subjected to domestic violence. Johnny then sued Ember for $50 million in defamation to tarnish his image. After this, Amber Heard, claiming physical violence with herself, has also filed a $100 million claim on Johnny. Although Johnny has said that on the contrary, Amber used to get violent with him often.
What will happen next in the case?
Amber Heard’s lawyers will now record the statements of their witnesses after Johnny appears on behalf of the witnesses in this case. It is believed that this week Amber Heard herself will also present her side in court. Let us tell you that Johnny Depp and Amber Heard met in the year 2009 on the sets of the film ‘The Rum Diary’. After this, both of them got married in the year 2015. This marriage did not last long and in 2016 Johnny and Amber separated. Later in the year 2017, both of them got divorced.
