Ramlila is going on in Ayodhya. This year Ramlila is happening differently. Looking at the Corona period, this time there are no spectators. Many actors from the film industry have joined Ramlila, including Raza Murad, Shahbaz Khan, Asrani, Rakesh Bedi, Surendra Pal. Ramlila is recorded and telecast live on Doordarshan. Actress Ritu Shivpuri had also agreed to play Kaikeyi but after her Corona report came out positive, she dropped out of Ramlila. Ritu Shivpuri said- Due to my corona report coming positive, I will not be able to attend Ramlila in Ayodhya this year. I am a self-quarantine. My health has improved a lot although I cannot travel at the moment. So this time the opportunity has been missed.
Dainik Bhaskar spoke to the actors who participated in Ramlila and how special it will be to know from them, this time Ramlila of Ayodhya.
Raza Murad (Ahiravana) – I wanted to play the role of Ahiravan by heart. Asked by heart and I got it. I have been associated with Ramleela for the past 9 years. Every time there used to be a part in Delhi. I have done many roles from Raja Janak to Kumbhakaran. This time I have got the opportunity to perform Ramlila in the birthplace of God, am happy. I am currently busy preparing for my role in Mumbai. My part will be shot on October 25.
Shahbaz Khan (Ravana) – Ravana is my most favorite character in Ramlila. Even before that I have played the role of Ravana in Delhi’s Ramlila. As an actor, Ravana’s character is very challenging. I have been performing since day one. The only difference is that there is no audience. This shortcoming is happening but glad that the whole country is watching live together. No more than 30 people are present around us. We are creating Ramlila among a small number of people.
Rakesh Bedi (Vibhishan) – There is a wave of happiness in the country from the beginning of construction of Ram temple. At the same time, what could be more joyful than Ramleela has been received. Till date Ramlila has never been seen to such a large scale, the audience used to come to the ground and watch Ramlila, for the first time, it would be seen on live TV. In many countries, it is a matter of pride for us. Right now I am preparing for Vibhishan’s character in Mumbai itself. According to planning, I have to go to Ayodhya for the last 3 days of Ramlila.
Surendra Pal (Meghnath) – 5 years ago I played Ravana in Delhi. Before that I played the role of Parashurama. Ramleela is very close to my heart. I am a great devotee of Lord Rama and therefore consider myself fortunate to join Leela. In these 9 days, I have to go to Ayodhya for 2 days and perform. Although I have been a part of Ramlila many times, but am very excited to perform in Ayodhya.
Vindu Dara Singh (Hanuman) – I am very happy that the Ayodhya issue was resolved. The city had not been developed for many years, now it will surely happen. Ramleela in Ayodhya was like a dream which is now fulfilled. A few days ago we went to invite Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath ji to join it. Hanuman has been made many times in Ramlila held in the Red Fort Ground of Delhi, I have returned to Ayodhya as Hanuman too.
