There has been a huge controversy over the poster of filmmaker Leena Manimekalai’s documentary ‘Kaali’. After this poster, many complaints have been registered against him for hurting religious sentiments. As the controversy escalated, the Aga Khan Museum said in its statement apologizing, “The museum apologizes that one of the 18 short videos displayed here has hurt the sentiments of Hindus.”
High commission also expressed displeasure
Let us inform that Kaali poster was also displayed at the Aga Khan Museum under the ‘Under the Tent’ program on behalf of different religious-social groups in the project presentation of Toronto Metropolitan University. Earlier, the Indian High Commission of Canada had demanded the authorities to remove all such poster-videos which hurt religious sentiments.
Leena had clarified on the poster
In this case, FIR has been registered against Leena Manimekalai in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Filmmaker Leena, born in Madurai and living in Canada, also tweeted in her clarification after the controversy over this poster. In this tweet, he wrote, ‘This film depicts incidents in which Kali appears on the streets of Toronto one evening. If you watch this movie, instead of Arrest Leena Manimekalai, you will put the hashtag Love You Leena Manimekalai.
