West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose has called upon the government employees on hunger strike demanding a hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) to call off their agitation and seek a solution to the impasse by meeting all concerned. Employees of 18 organizations are demanding that their dearness allowance be increased to the level of central government employees. He had also called for a complete strike on Friday. The post from the official Twitter handle of the governor said, “The governor is deeply saddened that the hunger strike of the aggrieved employees is entering the fourth week.” The issue at hand may be complex, but there is always an easier way.” He said, “What matters most is the precious lives of our brothers who are on a relentless fast for a cause that is close to their hearts. . The governor requests them all to end their perilous fast and appeals to all concerned to sit together and find an acceptable solution to the impasse. Even if she is ‘beheaded’, she will not be able to fulfill her demand for increase in DA. Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Shubhendu Adhikari urged the protesters to consider the governor’s request and call off their hunger strike. The officer tweeted, “I appeal to the government employees of West Bengal sitting on an indefinite hunger strike to consider the request of the Governor and end their hunger strike. However, continue with your agitation because your demand is 100% valid and the state government must accept it.
