UPPSC PCS: Essays on these topics including melting glaciers, Prime Minister Annadata Abhiyan

The Combined State / Senior Subordinate Services (PCS) Main Examination 2023 started by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission from Tuesday at four centers in Prayagraj and one in Lucknow. On the first day, general Hindi paper was held from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and essay paper was held in 2 to 5 pm shift. In the essay question paper of 150 marks, three topics each were given in three sections. Essay had to be written on each of these topics in maximum 700 words. 50 marks were fixed for each essay.

In the first section ‘A’, essays were to be written on ‘Role of literature in character building’, ‘Problem of old people in metropolitan cities’ or ‘Implications of leadership of G-20 for India’. In the second section ‘B’, an essay had to be written on any one of ‘Space Science and India’, ‘New Possibilities in Agriculture’ or ‘Globalization and Cottage Industries’. In the third section ‘A’, essays were to be written on ‘Impact of the economic crisis in Sri Lanka on the entire world’, ‘Crisis facing mankind due to melting glaciers’ or ‘Pradhan Mantri Annadata Income Protection Campaign’.
In the first shift, General Hindi question paper of 150 marks had two questions of 30 marks each on passages and 30 marks on proverbs. On the second day, on Wednesday, there will be examination for first and second question paper of General Studies.

95 percent candidates were present on the first day

95 percent candidates were present on the first day of PCS 2023 Mains. Out of 3852 candidates registered in both the cities, overall 3651 (94.78 percent) appeared in the examination. Apart from the Commission campus in Prayagraj, out of 1685 candidates registered in Government Inter College, Government Girls Inter College Civil Lines and CAV Inter College, 1612 (95.67 percent) were present. Whereas out of 2167 registered candidates, 2039 (94.09 percent) appeared in the examination held at the Commission premises in Lucknow.
