UP Scholarship 2023: Scholarship will not be available without biometric attendance

The state government is going to make Aadhaar based biometric attendance mandatory to prevent fraud in the name of scholarship. There are preparations to implement it compulsorily in all schools and colleges from next year. The Social Welfare Department is going to issue detailed guidelines in this regard soon.

An official of the Social Welfare Department said on Monday that the state government wants to provide all possible facilities to the eligible students. That is why arrangements are being made for biometric attendance for scholarship and fee reimbursement. Two years have been given to implement it in a phased manner. A timetable has been issued for its implementation.

The state government provides scholarships to about 50 lakh students every year. To get scholarship after 10th (above class 11), the Social Welfare Department has made it mandatory for students to have more than 75 percent attendance in classes. Attendance less than this does not provide the benefit of scholarship.

In the first phase, institutions affiliated to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow, institutions affiliated to State Medical Faculty, institutions affiliated to Uttar Pradesh Homeopathic Medicine Board, institutions affiliated to Uttar Pradesh Ayurveda Yoga, Unani, Tibbi Board, B.Ed. affiliated to all state universities. This system will be applicable in all private universities along with institutions having courses.
