UGC warns students, taking admission in these 2 universities will ruin your career

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has warned students about admission in two universities. The UGC has said that the Open International University for Alternative Medicine and the National Board of Alternative Medicine, Kuttalam are conducting various courses in violation of the UGC Acts. The Commission asked the students not to take admission in such self-proclaimed institutes, as it could jeopardize their careers.

The University and the Board do not have the authority to award degrees as they are not established under the sections of the UGC Act.

According to Section 22 of the UGC Act, only those universities which have been established under a Central Act, Provisional Act, State Act or have the status of a deemed to be university institution under section 3, can award degrees to students. Or those institutions which have been given special powers to award degrees under the Parliamentary Act, they can also award degrees. The UGC has made it clear that no institution can prefix its name with the word university unless it is established by a Central Act, a Provisional Act or a State Act. Such institutions cannot award degrees.

The UGC stated that the Open International University for Alternative Medicine and the National Board of Alternative Medicine are neither listed in Section 2(f) or Section 3 nor are they empowered to confer any degree as per Section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956 Is.
